Serious Thinking

Ok so here's the problem. I have a faithful few followers who read and comment on every blog. (And I love each and everyone of you.) But I am not gaining in either 'larger following' or in redirecting potential purchases to my etsy store. Hmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!
So my question of the week is - what do you think of sponsorship of blogs? I've been looking to see who and how popular the sponsored blogs are and I am torn. I need to expand and market my products but I also don't want to lose my friends in doing so.
Please give me your honest opinion (both directions) and let me know what you think. ALSO, if you have any other thoughts, I am very open to them.

  1. I hear you! Before I say anything, let me just say that I'm no expert! These are just suggestions that may or may not help. :)

Try putting a Etsy Mini on your sidebar. I get a lot of views in my shop from this.

Promote your blog and items in the Etsy forums in "Promotions" It can sometimes be frustrating but I get exposure that way. Be sure to read and comment on some of the blogs in the thread you've posted in so they will reciprocate.

Join the Etsy quilt team. The teams are all about promoting each other.

Find a blog hop you enjoy. My followers quickly increased and so did my shop views.

Etsy has really great articles on success. Sign up for the newsletter if you haven't already.

I can't say anything about sponsorship because I don't know anything about it. But whatever you decide to do, I'll still be following!! :)

  2. Sounds like Annette know quite a bit more about this subject than I do.
However, I've just put your button in my sidebar with a link to your blog.
Should you get a button for your esty shop I'll be certain to put it in my sidebar, Marie.
    Hugs & ♥♥♥s,

  3. I don't know anything about sponsorship but I have seen where there are blog hops like Annette was talking about and you donate a prize but they also can visit your etsy site too. Sorry not much help but do what you need to to promote yourself.

  4. So...here's my sage advice for today (OK, you can stop laughing)...

Here's what I did to gain readership for my blog. For a while, whenever I posted I would post on the "what did you blog today?" threads on the Etsy forums. That definitely got my readership up.

To drive more traffic to your store, you could buy ad space on more high traffic blogs. I think the key there is to find a blog in line with your "vision" of your store...a blog that will likely attract the people you think will shop at your store. For the most part, the advertising cost on most blogs is pretty reasonable. I say give it a try for a month or two and see if it increases your traffic. I think you might want to work on an eye catching ad picture.

You know I love you to death...I'll work on a button for you and put in on my blog...no charge :) I'm all for driving business to your shop!!!!

But if you need your clothes cleaned, I can help there! LOL.
